JORDAN TROPHY HISTORY

HISTORY OF INTRA-CITY RIVALRY WITH GARDEN GROVE AND RANCHO ALAMITOS

The first intra-city rivalry football game between the Garden Grove High School Argonauts and the Rancho Alamitos High School Vaqueros was played in 1958. The Vaqueros, many of whom had attended Garden Grove High School prior to when the new school opened, vanquished the Argonauts 20-12 in the inaugural game. The game was moved from Jason Field on the Garden Grove High School campus to Anaheim’s Glover Stadium in order to accommodate an estimated crowd of 7000.

HISTORY OF JACK JORDAN TROPHY

Garden Grove High School, Principal Donald Jordan and his wife Juanita, donated to the game’s winner the Jack Jordan Memorial trophy named in honor of their late son. The Jordan Trophy is given to the annual game winner.
